Located in the park of the town hall in the old stables of the Castle, the Museum of the Valley of the Creuse is a museum of arts and popular traditions which presents the daily life of locals from the late eighteenth to the mid the twentieth century through the reconstruction of everyday spaces ( kitchen, common room ) . One can discover the tools Masons of Creuse , basketry , or sit on the benches of the old classroom. Place of memory but also a place of life , the museum regularly hosts cultural and artistic exhibitions.

Algira villa, George Sand house, Gargilesse

In Gargilesse , a few kilometers from Nohant , residence of George Sand, is the “Villa Algira “. This house takes its name from an African butterfly discovered by George Sand on a walk . Villa Algira is the refuge hut of George Sand , a gift from his last love Alexandre Manceau . Today it is a museum dedicated to the writer. You can discover in a warm atmosphere , many objects testifying to his daily life in the region : common and familiar objects of the writer , naturalist collections , drawings ….
